Reading, animals and some sewing (no, crafting)
The first two days I was here I read through my mother's old Time magazines. All 52 of them. They have now gone in the recycling bin and Grandma and I made a trip to the library.
Grandma doesn't really care what she is reading, but it does keep her occupied. She will occasionally drop her book and pick up and start reading again at wherever the pages fall open. So much for keeping track of the plot of the story.
When Grandma isn't reading, she is talking to Sadie... Grandma's special friend.
Yesterday Marcy and I went to a street festival and though I didn't take any pictures of the festival I came across this very friendly fellow. Such a amiable face!
But it was his tail that really caught my eye. A perfect curlicue!
And yes, I am sewing. I sure don't like this picture of me... Oh well... I had brought a Kenna McRyan kit with me which looked so extensive that I knew I'd only have time to do this during vacation weeks. Here I am preparing pieces.

And here is the background foliage. I am not ironing these down yet. I'll wait until everything is made so that I can shift things around a bit.

ReplyDeleteI don't know how you feel about birth control, but the Supreme Court in the U.S. just handed down a decision that allows Hobby Lobby to deny birth control in the insurance they provide for their employees because it is a family held company that does not believe in it. I think it is wrong and therefore will not shop at Hobby Lobby anymore. I do not think any person or company has the right to impose their beliefs on other people or their employees.

DeleteMary, Hobby Lobby only will not pay for birth control that aborts fertilized eggs. Coils and that sort of thing. Also they are not saying their folks can't do birth control, they just don't want to be a contributor / condoner to something that goes against their believes . There are many benefits to working for them as they have strong moral values and it comes through in their business.
DeleteCute pic of grandma and the curly tail and you! I just read they are opening a Hobby Lobby next door to a local Joann's. I can't imagine Joann's is happy a about it, but at least they are open later and also Sundays. Hey, there's a quilt show in LA soon that I read about. I'll send a link separately

Looks like you are having fun w/ McKenna Ryan's kit....I have one and haven't even attempted the first task on it....Looks like Grandmother is having a good time w/ the library books....and to think she saves all her Time magazines for a whole year for you!!! Well, time to go meet my daughters to celebrate both their birthdays and, also, Bills....all 3 were in June, but we don't necessarily celebrate on the day, or even close...going into Fort Wayne for dinner.........Big hugs, Pat in IN...
