My mind has been so focused on this one problem that I’ve forgotten to pray for others who are ailing. God heals the sick, God forgives the sinner, God cares about us all and can perform miracles. Stand in the gap and pray even when the other person can’t (or isn’t.)

I know God has forgiven. The question is if those around forgive and besides, God is a just God so He is not just going to let things slide… I have to focus on the bigger picture that God sees, not my immediate view… but that is what pulls at my heart.

Such a verse! I continue to intercede and ask God to change His mind. My response is to keep my faith strong, to pray and to trust.

I am committed to praying for…. I don’t know if the person prays for themselves nor do I see a change, yet God has put me in the position to intercede and so I do. For their future, for their faith, for their happiness.

It really is a job to quiet my heart and my mind. It is so easy to get frantic…. Take a walk. Listen to gospel. Go to church. Pray and meditate. Keep active. God will come through.

Don’t give up. Keep on praying. If you can’t see God’s hand then trust in His plan. He always keeps His promises. He knows what is best for us.

How am I going to show my faith? I have declared my miracle and thanked God for it. How do I act on it? Maybe by going about my life as normal, not bowed down with fear and uncertainty.
Just live with happiness. God knows my inner heart even if no one else does. He is proud of the effort I make.

I know that the sin has been admitted. I know God has forgiven. I know that God is a just God and accounts must be made. But God is also a merciful God. I still pray for my miracle.

I’m asking God for a miracle, but is it in alignment with God’s Word or is it just a desire of my heart? God always works according to His Word and I have to be sure I’m abiding in His will.

I have been thinking that activities that take my mind off pain are blessings… But are they just diversions? Instead of drawing, sewing, seeing people, am I supposed to be using the time to get deeper with God?

I have underlined these two verses in almost all of my Bibles but I still struggle with not worrying. Daily, hourly, moment by moment , give God my concern and thank Him ahead of time for bending His ear to me.

I sit in God’s presence but there always seems to be noise around me…. The TV, the Internet, Tetsu interrupting…. Of course it is my fault for not going away with God. My token attempt to spend time with Him daily is not really escaping to God’s arms.

I want to claim this type of faith, absolutely trusting, having peace in my heart, sure my life is just where it is supposed to be, and that my joy will be complete. A faith such as this will uphold me through trials that come.

God is the only hope I can cling to. I don’t know what is ahead but I hope He will protect us all. I stand in the gap praying for God to spread His protection over our bodies and our minds.

Receiving God’s peace is not the goal. Seeking God is not for the purpose that MY heart will be at ease. I must seek God to know Him more, to abide with Him. Just because MY peace hasn’t been the result (yet!) shouldn’t lead to the excuse NOT to seek Him. God is not here for ME. I am here for God.

I declare my faith daily by coming to God in prayer and devotion. I seek peace in my heart from things looming… but the peace isn’t always there. Sometimes I think I’m only hiding my head in the sand trying not to face the future. The peace, the suffering, take turns in my heart…

Joseph was unnerved about Mary’s pregnancy… and he turned to God. The shepherds were frightened…and they turned to God. The wisemen were tired… and they turned to God. In my problems… turn to God.

I see God’s power. I believe in His love. I trust in His care for me. But it is a daily exercise to rest in hope… and even plugging into the power source can be an effort. That effort is my offering to God.

This is another Biblical truth I believe but can’t absorb in my life…. And what if my suffering is based on the suffering of someone I love? I can never be delighted in that! My weakness is not the problem we are facing, my weakness is not being able to give it all to God and be content.

I have never thought much about the word, Providence but I do believe that God is using all His creations, animate, inanimate, to mold His world into His plan. Nothing is wasted, nothing is coincidence. My life is not decided by karma but by providence. God provides.

Paul suffered a lot yet he talks of the importance of being content. Can contentment be learned? Do I believe that someday I’ll be happy about what we are going through now? I’ve had major upheavals before in my life (the death of Maya-Chan) and while I’ll never be able to say I’m glad she left my love and care, I understand how her passing resulted in our family now…. Is that contentment? Even with the tears that still come? Is this how my now situation will end?

The Bible isn’t just talking about material things. God COMMANDS that I be content! In sickness, in relationships, in financial and physical security. Can contentment even be forced? As with most things, if I stay close to God, abide in Him, contentment will be in my heart…. Is there something more than Jesus’ resurrection and my salvation that I need to be content?

I feel guilt over my discontent at recent circumstances. God has given me so much but I still want more. More health and security and happiness for my family. More of a quiet life without another problem cropping up. I sympathize with Job and pray I hold tight to God… but I wish my time to rejoice would begin.

God says to guard our hearts, and truly, dwelling on the what ifs and closed paths will result in depression. I will remind myself of God’s promises and His power and love. I will continue to praise Him.

God has not abandoned me. Though I might feel alone and abandoned even Jesus felt that way on the cross. But God will use all my present for His glorious purpose.

Hannah was in deep sadness for years and years yet in the end God answered her prayer. Almost as important to me is that God was with Hannah and her family all those sad years.

I don’t want to be thrown into the fire of suffering and I say the words in Daniel in my heart… but will I really stand firm if I am not rescued? On the other hand, where else would I go but into God’s arms for comfort…

Things change so quickly and I’m not ready for the bad…. But I still believe that God is with us no matter where we are or what is happening. God is still protecting and loving and working out things for our success.

This happens. Even though I can see the blessings around me, even though I trust God to take care of us all, still I’m tired and would just like to go to sleep for a long time. The practical advice is to get up and eat…. Add to that I’m telling God how I feel.

So many of my prayers recently have been sighs. I believe that peace will come eventually because I love God. How about to those I love whose hearts are still turned away? I don’t know if I’m praying for their change of heart or for our situation to change… my sighs and groans.

I’m sure I prayed this prayer each time my children were born. And I’m sure God was with me through each child raising decision I made. That means God has laid out each step of my children’s heart and brought them to this stage of their lives.

I’m trying to keep my mind away from negativity and focus of blessings. A loving husband, two wonderful children and their caring spouses. The only One who knows the truth is God and He speaks clearly to the Holy Spirit who is in tune and who can guide me because Jesus left Him to dwell within me. Look for and listen to and obey the Holy Spirit’s promptings.

Knowing God’s Word, staying close to God in prayer, following the Holy Spirit’s guidance is necessary to stay in complete obedience.

I often wonder and ask forgiveness for not demonstrating a stronger faith to my family. They have seen my lukewarm faith, they have noted my moods which conflict with my words. I wish my friends would understand that God (they think it’s the gods) is not out to punish them or catch them. That they don’t have to collect charms or throw money at altars to get God to hear them. It is not a life of humans versus the gods…

Concern? Yes. Fear? Not yet. I’m looking forward to this surgery maybe because I so hope to get my old life back…. I’m more concerned that I’ll be disappointed with the outcome, but God already knows and is with me in all.

There are thousands of people who have had this surgery successfully and my doctor has performed it hundreds of times. God has prepared the way.

I am lifted by the reference to ‘steps’ in this verse as I ready myself for hip surgery. I’m doing preoperative exercises, I’ve got things marked on my schedule… but it is God who is in control.
Fears that I’m giving to God: Will surgery really be successful and will I be back walking as I used to?
What I’m giving to God: He is in control of my surgery, not me, not the doctors. He already knows the outcome.

Practice the presence of God…. It is easy maybe to praise God and worship Him in church when the heart is joyful, when I’m angry or hurting or fearful I doubt or even worse wonder if He is even there. The “practice” of speaking to God moment by moment will make Him more real to me when my emotions are in a tangle.

God gives strength when we don’t expect it. I see myself as weak and lacking but when I need courage God supplies it, He is filling my weakness with Himself.

I sort of have this dilemma. I’m thinking of how long I should continue working and sort of long for full retirement with sewing and painting all day. But I wonder…. What’s my purpose then? Is it enough to just enjoy myself with little or no contact with people? That leads to the dangerous question of the disabled or bed bound. God has a purpose for them even if they don’t have much contact with others.

Faithfulness, kindness, gentleness, patience, and self control are well stocked but maybe there’s not so much of love, joy and peace, and goodness is the hardest one to rate!

I ask “Why am I having trouble walking?” We look at the world news and ask “How has the environment gotten so precarious?”
I don’t think questioning is bad but it might be better to ask God to work first and then worry about the reasons later.

I see the heat of summer as uncomfortable with bugs and tiredness. But I also count the cold winters as nearly unbearable! The mountain trail is exhausting, the oceans filled with dangers. When did my mind forget the beauty of God’s creation and only focus on the inconveniences?

Wouldn’t it be nice if the Holy Spirit spoke so simply and gave such clear instructions? In this case God directed Philip to be the perfect place and at the perfect time. He directs me too though I don’t seem to realize it at the time.

I sigh at how impatient, doubting, prideful I am. Don’t I have the Holy Spirit within me? Aren’t I supposed to be changed into a shadow of God’s glory?

The purpose of having the Holy Spirit in my life is not to make me feel good. He is there to equip me to do my mission on earth, which includes showing the world God through me. The Holy Spirit changes me and directs my actions and my words.

Tetsu is furious with John for biting him. He is threatening to return John to the vet and I know John is a major problem. I stand between them (protecting John from physical abuse) and the anger falls on my for choosing the dog over Tetsu.
Lord, we’ve had John 4 years and given him a good life. What can we do more? He is not mellowing. I want to see him through til the end and he’s already 11. But Tetsu’s anger is reasonable too. Please get us through this problem. Please heal the divide between Tetsu and John.

This is an interesting phrase and shows that we often only hear our own voices over the voice of God. The devil is prowling in my thoughts, yelling at me that I’m not good enough.

This is an interesting verse…. Why would God hamper the work of the priests? The had duties yet the duties couldn’t be filled because of God’s glory.
Maybe the lesson is that compared to God’s glory and presence, nothing NEEDS to be done. All our small tasks are unnecessary when God steps in and we need to recognize that nothing is accomplished with our efforts.

I tend to pray “safe” prayers. “Be with this person.” “Heal that person.” “Help me do such and such.” I’m afraid if I really pray “not my will but Yours” God is going to give me a heavy mission that involves hardship and grit. There are even devotions about “dangerous prayers”! I don’t want that!!!

When I am in despair, what do I do? Can I sing praises to God as Paul did? It is a great witness for others to see such faith, but more than that, worshiping God through hymns and praise song often give me the words I can’t generate myself. Songs to God encourage me and remind me of God’s omnipotence and love when I can’t feel it myself.

This has been a week of sadness watching the devastation of Turkey after their earthquakes. It is a land of mourning and grief.
I watch with guilt because my life is far removed… but life could go that way in an instant….

If I’m cowering in worry today, it probably means I’ve forgotten to be thankful. If I’m thinking about tomorrow’s problems, I’m not seeing the blessings of today.

Prayer is different from thinking about. In prayer I am humbling myself before God and recognizing Him as my Lord.
Can I be more specific about my prayers? Write out a list in my bullet journal? Pray urgent prayer, prayers for family members and friends, prayers for myself, prayers for community and as yet unbelievers. Be specific.

I can’t just be coming to God occasionally or even routinely and expect Him to give me peace. The Bible says my mind has to be STAYED on Him. Focused, constant, ready to hear Him, and then God’s promised peace will be evident. Shut doubts and questioning away and trust!

I’m laid up again with a new to me word, “flare”. I was doing so well too…. I’ve had almost two months free from pain and I was hoping if I just religiously took my medications everything would be controlled. Is there a difference between peace WITH God and peace IN God?
Peace with God comes with my salvation and is a fact. But peace in God comes with the feeling of contentment that can’t be explained in the midst of hardships. I know feelings change with situations but God never changes and so that refuge is always there.

While I was waiting for John’s test results I tried thanking God even through my pleading. I remember thanking God for my problem dog and thanking Him for whatever He was going to do. I know I saved myself from a lot of stress and anxiety no matter what was God’s answer.
