Spring fields and flowers

Today is the beginning of Golden Week... the long set of holidays in Japan that span a week.  I think we are celebrating Showa Day a day set apart for remembering the Showa Era.  There will be Constitution Day, Green Day and Boys' Day next week.  Unfortunately Tetsu has to work most of the holidays so I am on my own...
 
But as I didn't have to go off for crosswalk duty this morning Tetsu and Choco and I went out with our cameras this morning.  Yesterday it had rained all day but this morning the sun was out and the forest was shining.

This is the view from behind our forest.  The rice field has been flooded and the yellow rape blossoms and mountains reflect in the watery mirror.  Last week, before the flowers were blooming, we were eating them!  Delicious!

They are too long and stringy to eat anymore but they sure brighten up the neighborhood.

This is an uninteresting factory that was constructed a couple of years ago next to the rice fields.  I wasn't too happy about having a factory here but even a factory looks pretty reflected in the field.

Too bad this isn't my house.... but it isn't.   Not a traditional farm house either but it looks peaceful set away from the neighborhood on an "island" of its own.

Choco enjoys a change of scenery on our walks...  Some mornings we are headed along the river, some mornings near the rice fields.  We have to be careful of the low electrified fences that are supposedly keeping the wild boars out of the fields.  Though our community is called Wild Boar Storehouse, I have never seen a wild boar... but the farmers I guess do and they are taking precautions to keep the beasts out of their fields this year.  That doesn't make Choco happy.

Heading back home.  The rape blossoms and purple radish flowers make a lovely accent to the scenery.

I started packing away our winter clothing yesterday!
