Cat pictures

Let's see...  What is going on around here?  Not too much.  I took Chip to the vet's yesterday and then stopped by Tetsu's mother's.  It was too hot to leave Chip in the car so I took her inside while Tetsu's mother and I enjoyed an obento lunch.  We got to talking about all the animals that I have/have had, and how it is a good thing that Tetsu likes animals too.

According to Tetsu's mother, when Tetsu was a child his father kept dogs and a badger, a snake and a monkey.  Quite a menagerie.  And Tetsu's mother was the one to take care of all these creatures so she is quite happy to be free from those chores and has no wish to have animals in her life again.

"I bet cats are easier to take care of than dogs...  They don't bark or need to be taken for a walk."

"As a matter of fact, one of my cats is right here and yes she's pretty quiet."

I brought Chip out for a few seconds to show but Tetsu's mother is a clean fanatic and I didn't want Chip peeing on her floor or anything so back in the travel cage Chip went to Tetsu' mother's relief.

I grew up with animals all around me too.  Dogs, puppies, cats, kittens.  I think my father felt that a house wasn't complete without at least one dog and two cats (so why we had 4 dogs and two cats I don't know.)  We also had a donkey for many years and one lone sheep.  Somewhere along the line I became a cat lady but I don't know when the cog went loose in my head.
What are these cats thinking?  They were just lined up on the chair as if they'd been banned to a corner or something.  That is Mi, Cleo and Velvet there.
On another day Mi and Cleo and Vel were rolled up in a ball on the sofa.  Chip refuses to take part in any community cat activities.  She only cuddles with humans.
And here is sweet Vel contemplating a nap on the Pine Burr.

  1. Now I know why you stitched the quilt, specially for Vel.

  2. Love seeing our your critters. I never had anything but cats until I was 25. Then I married a man who wanted a dog. It was not the best experience because it was a big, young dog and my husband was always at work so I took care of it. I knew next to nothing about dogs except that he needed much more time and attention than I could give him. I had a 4 yr old and a 2 1/2 yr old and and house to take care of as well as my husband. Even when my husband was home he neglected the poor dog. All in all it was a poor experience for me and the dog. Finally I convinced my husband the lonely dog needed to be with people who had time for him. The dog actually made out really well in the end. We gave him to a man who lived on a huge ranch in Austrailia (we lived in California) so the dog went to a fun place with lots of room to run. My 2nd (current husband) had a dog when we met and he and I have had many dogs over the past 35 yrs but they have all passed now. 10 years ago I started fostering kittens for our tiny, local non-profit rescue and because I fell in love with every kitten I fostered at one point we ended up with 8 cats!! OH MY GOSH! I knew when my husband and sons started calling me a hoarder (joking, of course) that I had to stop fostering kittens or I would actually become a hoarder. lol Last year we were down to 5 cats (for different reasons 3 passed). Then one day in April last year I opened the back door and a dirty, starving, covered with fleas and ticks cat was trying to get into our trash can. Well, how can anyone turn away a starving animal??? Not me! So we are back up to 6 cats. Unfortunately my 5 kitties do not like the new kitty so I can not bring him in to keep him safe from all of the wild critters that live in our area. I have been hoping my husband will stop working so much and build an outside area for the new kitty. That is tops on his Honey-Do list. Anyway....sI swear I do not need to go looking for animals. lol They always seem to find me. :) Wow! Sorry I was so long-winded. Hope you have a great weekend!

  5. My mother in law don't like animals either. I love my dogs. I would have more critters around here if my husband would let me but he knows he'd end up being the one taking care of them so he don't want them. He don't have time for them with work and all. Your kitty is napping on a beautiful quilt that I'm sure you made! It is beautiful! That is funny how the cats were in a time out pose! lol

  6. I got a mini-toy poodle for my 5th birthday, I wanted a kitten but my mom was scared of cats. When I was in the Army, I picked up a VERY tiny kitten - and I've had cats ever since!! Between us, hubby and I had 10 when we married. Now we're down to one, and she's the last. My youngest son is seriously allergic [although he does well with our cat] and I just can't deal with the sadness of losing them anymore. I love all your pics - how catlike, all three of them staring at the back of the chair, lol!!!!

  7. The last of our cats went to the states with son Ken. Nikko longs for every cat she sees but I'm not so sure the bird would be equally delighted.
