Someone congratulate me... I just spent a whole hour gardening! Gardening is not one of my strong points and I tend to kill flowers before they even take root...
Tetsu and I bought flowers on Sunday but he didn't get them planted and suggested if I had some free time I might want to do that chore. Hey! That's not part of the deal! Tetsu plants the flowers, I just enjoy them!
The flowers have been sitting on our front porch for four days now and I AM on spring vacation...
I really need a change of attitude because I caught myself grumbling.
"Gardening is hard on the back... All this lugging around of packaged soil and pots, all this stooping and kneeling. If I end up with another backache, Tetsu can put all this away for me no matter WHAT time he gets home tonight!"
Definitely the wrong attitude.
I love God's world and nature, that's why we live in the countryside, but I just don't think He needs me to help Him much.
Okay. A pot of flowers.
And planters and pots. The red kerosene tanks don't look so pretty but we will still need them for another couple weeks for heating our house.
I began to get creative... Bunny ceramics (very old and faded) in honor of Easter.
My Maneki Neko ceramic by the front door's flowers.
The metallic dog there holds the pooper-scooper shovel that I grab whenever Choco and I go out for a walk. It doesn't look offensive with all the color around it, does it?
And this is my masterpiece... I moved a wire rack that was rusting in the driveway to right under the window. The brick tower under the geranium is so that I can see the geranium through the window. The blue ceramic pods are some that Leiya made back in high school that are supposed to be candle holders but they just rolled around our front porch all these years.
Takumi's plum tree in a cup that seems to be still alive though it doesn't look like it does it?
And though this area could use more flowers, we will probably start having outdoor Saturday breakfasts here as the weather warms up. Have to enjoy all the gardening efforts!
I'm done for the day. I hope I've made front yard look welcoming. I'm going back to my sewing.

ReplyDeleteI decided some years ago that plants in pots is the way to go, no huge garden beds to weed, easily arranged to suit the seasons, and your ornaments are the perfect addition.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is quite a lot of flowers to manage. I sure do wish I had that much space ... or even that much sun. I am thinking this year I need to make a quilt of all my floral print scraps. Then I can have a garden all year around.
